Houston Rockets 2013-14 Schedule Released
The 2013-14 NBA Schedule has been released and the Houston Rockets will be heavily featured on national television this season.
The NBA released game schedules for the upcoming 2013-14 season on Tuesday night, and what a difference a year makes.
The Rockets, now sporting a lineup headlined by James Harden and Dwight Howard, will be featured on national television a whopping 26 times. Though the Rockets picked up a few nationally televised games as the season went along last year, they were originally given just two games on ESPN and four on NBA TV when the 2012-13 schedule was released last summer.
The Rockets will kick off the season on October 30th at the Toyota Center when they face Al Jefferson and the Charlotte Bobcats. While the Bobcats seem to be an underwhelming opponent for the season opener, Howard’s regular season and home debut is basically a guaranteed sellout so maybe it shouldn’t be a shock that we’re seeing one of the toughest opponents to sell that night.
Dwight won’t have to wait long to face his old team as the Lakers will be in town on November 7th. On Christmas Day, the Rockets will head west on I-10 to face the Spurs in San Antonio in a night game (7:00pm Central). The Rockets will also be on ABC against the Heat in Miami on March 16th.
Jeremy Lin will make another return to Madison Square Garden on November 14th and that game will be televised nationally on TNT. Harden will also face his old team on TNT as well when the Rockets host the Oklahoma City Thunder on January 16th.
The Rockets will get some early tests against the West’s Best with three road games in November against the Clippers, Grizzlies and Spurs. The stretch drive could be interesting as 19 of their last 32 games will be on the road. One three-game stretch (March 11, 13 and 16) is an especially brutal test as the Rockets face Oklahoma City, Chicago and Miami — all on the road.
