Did we really think the mayor of H-Town was leaving the city?

The Rockets got a break Sunday when they agreed to terms with Gerald Green on a veteran’s minimum deal worth $2.4 million for one season.

There were reports that Green had multiple suitors, which made it questionable as to whether a veteran’s minimum deal would be enough to bring back Green. If it wasn’t, given Houston’s luxury tax situation, it likely meant the Rockets would lose Green. But he loved it here and both parties win in the move.

Green famously was days away from retiring when the Rockets called. He went from having no NBA interest at all to becoming a key rotation piece in Houston and even signing a shoe deal.

The conditions of the one-year deal make it so that Green contains a no-trade clause, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks.
