The Rockets get their first look at rookies Eddie Griffin and Terence Morris tonight at Long Beach State as the Rockets face Darius Miles and the Los Angeles Clippers summer league squad at 9:30pm.
The game will have an interesting subplot -- a year and a half ago Griffin and Miles went head to head as the #1 and #2 players in the country out of high school.
Miles destroyed Griffin, going for 41, 11 boards, 10 assists and 4 blocks while Eddie was held to 15 points. That game shot Miles' stock through the roof heading in to last year's draft.
"I think Eddie just had a bad game," said Miles. "The game was so hyped -- it was No. 1 [Griffin] vs. No. 2 [Miles] -- and I went so strong, just went after him. I have a real killer instinct. Eddie has no facial expression -- like Tim Duncan -- and I didn't know if I was killing him or not, so I kept going at him, trying to get him mad." Round Two is tonight.
Update: Miles did not end up playing in the game.
