Bullard goes on IR, Rockets sign CBA's Sean Colson
The Rockets signed CBA point guard Sean Colson today after placing Matt Bullard on the injured list for his back. The 6-foot guard played collegiately at UNC-Charlotte and shined in the USBL with the Dodge City Legend and currently in the CBA with the Grand Rapids Hoops. The ironic part is the Rockets called up Colson when two of his teammates at Grand Rapids are former Rockets: Sam Mack and Stais Boseman. Colson ranks third in the CBA in scoring, averaging 22.2 points for the Hoops and also is averaging 7.3 assists per contest, tied for third in the league. After winning back-to-back CBA Player of the Week honors Colson signed and played out a 10-day deal in late January with the Atlanta Hawks and returned to Grand Rapids after being released. Interesting note: Not only were both Colson and Cuttino Mobley stars in high school in Philadelphia, but most don't know that they were teammates at Rhode Island for a year in 1994-95 before Colson transferred to UNC-Charlotte for the 95-96 season. If you have Quicktime installed you can check out a nice video of a move by Colson here.
