Quincy Douby
6-3, 175 lb junior SG out of Rutgers

Quincy Douby was Rutgers basketball in 2006. The 6-foot-3 guard out of Brooklyn led the Big East in scoring at 25.4 points to go with 3.1 assists and 4.3 boards a night for the Scarlet Knights as a junior. Douby put up almost 9 shots a night from long range alone, hitting over 40% of them. He became the first Rutgers player in school history to ever be named to the All-Big East first team. Said Pitt coach Jamie Dixon: "You're not going to shut [Douby] down. He's going to get shots. He's going to take shots. You can't let him get going." |
Douby was an outstanding scorer at the collegiate level. Magnificent range on his shot and a quick release. Great free throw shooter, hitting just under 85% as a junior. Good penetrator and ballhandler and a decent passer. By many accounts has a very good work ethic. Plays the game with a lot of passion -- very competitive player. |
A tweener - the body of a point guard but the scoring mentality of a two. Must bulk up to make it in the NBA. Became more turnover-prone from his sophomore to junior seasons, going from a 2-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio to a near 1-to-1. Does not particularly shine in any area outside of scoring and may be just a three-point specialist in the league. |
It would be very nice to see a guard back on the Rockets who can shoot lights out from beyond the arc, but simply put, #8 is too early for Quincy Douby. He's not likely to be around for the Rockets at #32, but could be a steal at that point. |
