My Grades for the Rox
Sean Colson - C+
He had the hustle but was out of control most of the night.
Darren Kelly- B
Did his job of hustling for loose balls and driving towards the hoop.
Axel Dench- D-
I'm not sure what he was trying to do out there but he didnt do it.
Eddie Griffin- C
Had a really poor shooting night he ended up with 12 points but he took about 15 shots to get it. He was constantly being boxed out of position by the likes of Donnell Harvey and Derek Hood. He will recover and I look forward to seeing him in the next few games.
Venson Hamilton- D
Shyed away from contact and wouldnt take a shot.
Alex Jensen- B-
I gave him this grade because his sisters were sitting behind me and wouldn't shut up about him and Langhi. (Langhi, please call his sister Jill, she seemed very interested). He did the job asked of him, he came in and had a couple of Boards and 2 pts in limited action.
Terence Morris- D+
Asked to play center (why?). Missed some really easy buckets and wasnt a factor on the boards.
Omar Sneed- C
Had a couple of buckets but was really eratic with the ball, im not sure but I do believe he should of had 3 or 4 turnovers in limited time.
Rod Blakeney- C
Scored 5 pts in limited time but took 3 or 4 bad judgment shots when others were wide open.
Dan Langhi- C
I was really disappointed in Dan tonite. He got hot for a while but seemed to get really frustrated when he missed a few shots. That shouldn't happen in a summer game. He finished with a team high if 13 pts even after being ejected half way thru the 4th period. Someone feed this man some pasta......JILL????
Senneca Walls- INC
was he even there?
Saul Smith- INC
was he even there?
The Eddie Griffin I saw today kept getting boxed out and tossed around in the paint. He had one good block and most of his rebounds fell into his hands. What I was disappointed in was that all of his shots looked horrible: 2 airballs (from 3pt land and one from 5 feet from the rim). I know he's young and I sure hope he gets better but I was reminded of what Jason Collier looked like last year. I kept telling myself that it's only one summer scrub game.

But simply put, the Rockets were a wreck at the Revue.

From the opening tip the baby Rox showed they were either tired, bored or both...throughout the entire 1st period the Rox were standing around trying to take their man off the dribble with hardly any ball movement to speak of. The refs were calling some pretty cheezy fouls including a few carry calls on Sean Colson (This can only happen durning the summer games). Dan Langhi and Griffin were manhandled and boxed out on just about every occasion. ( I guess that will happen when Terence Morris plays in center position) The one highlight of the period was a nice SWAT Griffin had on some Mav I didn't recognize. After 10 mins of play the Mav's led the Rox 17-9.

The second period was pretty much the same as the first. Sloppy play from both teams lead to fast breaks and turnovers. The Rox finally get on a hot streak behind the shooting of Griffin, Langhi and Colson. One thing that bothered me in the second period was the unwillingness of Venson Hamilton to shoot the ball when his back was to the basket. He wouldn't even feel contact and quickly passed the ball back outside.

At the half the score was tied at 30.

The third period was by the far the best for the Rox. Langhi started out hot hitting the first 8 pts in a row. But then he quickly cooled off missing 3 straight shots. Griffin had his second airball of the night while standing 5 feet from the goal which the crowd thought was funny. Griffin rebounded from the airball by scoring 4 straight points along with Blakeney. This was by far the Rox best period. At the end of 3 quarter, H-town-49 Dal-47.

For the final period, rebounding that had improved in the third period had now left the Rox. It was continuosly 1 shot and back on D, 1 shot and back on D. The mavs started to pull away early. After Blakeney and Sneed missed 1 of 2 FT a piece it got really exciting. Langhi driving in for the dunk got stuffed, it was a good no call, from what I saw it was all ball but Dan did not seem to think so. For the next 2 mins he let the refs have a piece of his mind. Then he got called for a foul on the defensive end that was pretty questionable but when you get in the refs head they remember and you will pay for it down the line. They finally got tired of it and ejected him. I was really disappointed, I can't believe how he was crying over a foul in a summer league game. I mean you cant even foul out of the summer games so what's the big deal. After he was ejected the Rox continued to go downhill. The Rox missed 6 straight shots including an ugly shot from Morris and Griffin. Colson made a great defensive stop and saved the ball from going out of bounds but the Rox were unable to capitalize on the break after Kelly couldn't finish the layup. The Mavs ended the game on a nice alley oop dunk by Donnell Harvey.

The final score Dallas 76 and the H-town boys 59.

Unfortunately, the player of the game was a Maverick, God Shammgod. He had a decent shooting game and by far was the most enjoyable player. With God playing against you the poor Rox didn't stand a chance.
